Happy 4th of July

Hi everyone,

Today is the 4th of July and most everyone is in the yard having hotdogs and beer - my husband is in Mexico shooting on a movie. Whilst he is English and usually lays low for the 4th, it would have been fun to have him here to go to parties. Anyways, hope yours was great!

I love how Ellen Degeneres can make anything funny. She sees a fly crawling on her mirror and writes a comedy routine about it. I have seen three flies today - brought in by the dogs - and have yet to write one joke.

My brother Hal is coming to stay with us this weekend. He’s on Parole, my nephew’s on parole and my son is on parole. No one in my family can leave the city without getting a travel pass from the the police.

In regards to my brothers and sister - I’m the only one who hasn’t been arrested for a felony or put in a mental hospital. Yes that’s right - I’m the black sheep.

August Trip

Just got back from FLorida - so fabulous - watching dolphins, playing on the beach with my 2 year old and going on lots of boats. My favotie things about the trip were what we didn’t do - didn’t make breakfast, lunch or dinner, didn’t make my bed, didn’t even wear sunscreen. I felt so young there cause the average person driving around is 100.

The L.A. Zoo

Took my two and a half year old to the zoo today. I thought it would be fun and he could see some new things. We saw zebras, sea lions, giraffes….. A chimpanize even got right next to the glass where we were squatting and kind of snuggled with us. All of that paled in comparison to his discovery of a monkey turd on the bottom of their cage. It was the hightlight of the trip for him. “Mom I see poo.” “Mom, poo poo.” When I failed to match his enthusiasm - he just spoke louder. “Monkey poo Mom - it’s right there!” I finally took a picture of it and we left.

Giving Up

I’ve given up so many things in my life. It all started with drugs - once I gave those up I couldn’t stop. I gave up cigaretttes then alcohol. More recently I’ve given up coffee, sugar, bread, dairy and all wheat products. I basically live on chicken and vegtables with water as my only beverage. And then I realized I can never go to Paris again. I couldn’t bear to be in France without drinking wine, smoking, eating chocolate, bread or cheese. Sitting in a cafe eating rice cakes wouldn’t cut it. In LA it’s okay. In LA bell pepper sticks are the new pretzels. In LA I’m fine - I just can’t travel.

My son’s Birth mother

My son’s Birth Mother called me from jail on Friday. She wanted to know if I would put money on her account so she could get “store” while she was incarcerated. (That’s what they call getting food inside) Since we have spent over 20,000 dollars adopting our son because she contests it, even though she has never shown to one of our 6 court dates, I was not inclined to give her any money. An hour later she called back and said not to worry - she was getting released. WHo was worried?

Max 10

Performed tonight at Max 10 - very way out with lots of performance artists in the show - and then me just standing still and reading - when many others had rolled on the floor, screeched, eaten something on stage shirtless or at least done a backwards summersault - I felt a little out of place, like I was cheating - even though people laughed.

Today was my youngest son’s birthday - he is officially three. I’m so lucky to have three children who I get to be the mother of. Each child teaches me something - like how long I can go without sleep. Today at school we had a little birthday party for him and his classmates made cards and a huge birthday banner. Andrew is lucky to have so many friends. I hope he keeps them for ever - I also hope he learns how to use the toilet. Right now he still enjoys peeing on the floor.
